Notice of Intent to Apply for Funds from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2
A consortium consisting of the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers, the Lee County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Fort Myers intends to apply for $30,093,750 in federal funding to stabilize targeted neighborhoods in the City of Fort Myers and surrounding communities. The purpose of this funding is to decrease the adverse effects of foreclosed and abandoned properties. Following is a list of activities intended for the use of these funds: $12,256,250 for acquisition of foreclosed or abandoned property, $375,000 to demolish blighted structure, and $15,000,000 to be used for redevelopment of demolished or vacant property for housing, and $2,462,500 for administration of grant activities.
Public comment is requested to be submitted with the final application to The U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development. Please send written comments via U.S. or electronic mail no later than July 12, 2009 to:
