HACFM Community Supportive Services /Neighborhood Network Center
The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers (HACFM) was awarded a ROSS Neighborhood Network grant from the Housing and Urban Development in 2003.
The Neighborhood Network Center (NNC) has been in operation since September 2004, the center continues to be a leading resource center for public housing residents and the community. The NNC has become our major "place based" center that provides computer access to public housing residents and the community with 12 computers, printers and Internet access. Additionally, there is a training room to host all workshops, training sessions and resident meetings.
The HOPE VI Revitalization Grant was awarded in 2005 the grant included funding to assist with the new construction of the Community Supportive Services Building. The HACFM is very excited to have the Neighborhood Network Center on-site including other resourceful services at the Homes at Renaissance Preserve Family. The Resident Services Department facilitates several programs and many resources are available to the families and the community, located at 4211 Romeo Lane, Suite 103, Fort Myers, FL 33916.
Resources and services are available to meet the human services needs which includes; Financial Literacy, Literacy (English as a second language), basic computer training, after-school program and job career needs. This is our most popular service provided to our residents. The "Job Club" is a program designed to assist families seeking to gain employment. We provide job searches; resume writing, interview role play sessions and many other job skill training services to prepare our families for employment. The "Job Club" program is held every Tuesday 9:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
We partner with local community service providers to bring resources and services directly to the residents. We have an on-site GED contractor to assist the residents with obtaining their GED, at the HACFM CSS Building, 4211 Romeo Lane, Suite 103 Fort Myers, Florida 33916. In addition, the Literacy Council Gulf Coast Coordinator presents a literacy program English (as a second language) to our resident. Resources are still available at Palmetto Court Neighborhood Network Center located at 1839 Maryland Avenue Unit E 14, Fort Myers, FL 33916.
